ABOUT LAKE DIEFENBAKER & RIVERHURST

Welcome to Lake Diefenbaker, Southern Saskatchewan's "Big Lake". Formed by two large earth dams built in the late 1960s, the South Saskatchewan River valley flooded creating a man-made lake that is 225km (140 miles) long, with a shore length of 800km (500 miles).

There are many lake communities, parks and golf courses along Lake Diefenbaker. Closest to our home base is the Village of Riverhurst, located 3km from Lake Diefenbaker and the Riverhurst Ferry. Services include camping, grocery store, gas station, bar/cafe and the F.T. Hill Museum. The museum hosts a great collection of native, early settler, fossil and area history.

A short 4km drive or boat ride away from Prairie Lake Vacations is Palliser Regional Park, offering seasonal and short-term camping, full service marina, pool, public beach and food services. Within the park, the Sage View Golf Course provides spectacular views and challenging elevation changes for all levels of golfers. On weekends, the local Farmers' Market is open on Saturdays during July and August, and the Riverhurst Lion's Club hosts a Pancake Breakfast on Sundays.

There are plenty of activities on and off the lake during the summer months on Lake Diefenbaker! Contact us today to book one of our rental boats and experience the "Shuswaps of Southern Saskatchewan"!
